WTF... wow... people are truly frakkin' stupid. It even says in the article how much more interest they're paying for the tires, and how much more they end up shelling out for them as opposed to just buying them from the store... jeez. Morons.

This has been going on forever. A friend of mine was going to pay about $900.00 for a $300.00 TV set. This was back in the early 90's when a good TV went for $300.00. We talked him out of it. Look at some of the small used car dealers that offer their own financing ( everyone qualifies, no one gets turned down ! ). The interest rates are outrageous. On the flip side, some people just don't pay anyway. So you use the product for 1-3 months, and they repossess it. Go to another merchant and do it again.

It started out as a comedy, but it became a documentary.

I think some of you are being a bit harsh on the renters, saying they're idiots and all that... The article states that they fully realize that they're being ripped off in the long term - but they have no other option because all they can afford are the monthly payments and they absolutely need the tires to get to work and get around. A terrible position to be in...

Word! It's what plants crave

I like the part of the article where the owners of an INFINITY SUV couldnt afford to put tires on it. Next they will be renting gas!

So why in the world couldn't they have realized that they were going to need tires 6 months before and begun saving 50 bucks a month to go towards a new set? Seems to me like a bunch of laziness and the inability to think about and weigh ones decisions...
