Replacing my 2012 Titaniums Pilot Sport 3 tires

So, my 2012 Titanium came with Michelin Pilot Sport 3's OEM. Great tire, but I'm not taking this car to the track. I'm thinking this tire is a bit of overkill for my car and for the way I drive (spirited, but not overly aggressive or racing).

I already bought a set of designated wheels/tires for winter shortly after I bought the car since I heard that the Pilots were not that good in the snow. Pilots only have 63 miles on em and my neighbor is looking to get some 18" wheels for his M5 and wants to buy my Pilots. Win/Win.

Plus, I'd like to get a tire with a longer lasting tread life.

I notice the Conti Extreme Contact DWS tires get a lot of love, would they be an acceptable replacement tire? I'm looking for something to drive on mostly dry, but we get some unexpected weather in Colorado and it has been known to snow in May and June, so I would want something that could get me through those freak storms if I needed to.

Size = 235/40ZR18

Looking to stay around $175/tire.

Any other recommendations for tires I should be looking at?

Phil

How about the general AS-03? Far undercuts your 175/tire pricepoint too and should last longer:

Don't have them but a friend does and he loves them. Should be able to handle any unexpected weather that may pop up too.

Thanks quacking05focus. I can't help but think of my old Pontiac Firebird hood emblem when I look at those AS-03 tread patterns.

I notice that they aren't available in my exact size also. I might be able to get a comparable size, but the OCD in me won't allow it.

DWS is one of the best. General G-Max is good as stated above. Another option to consider is the Kumho 4X, it is a good value. I really like the Yokohama Avid Envigor as well.

Agreed dws is a great tire. Did i misread the tire size? 235/40/18 right? Sorry, thought the link i posted to tirerack was highlighting that same size.

edit: hm looks like i had the 235/40/18 in there...weird. the continentals are about 20 more a tire on TR.

Ok, need to see if these are good replacements (the goodyears) as I now am at 15k on my '12 Ti and the Pilot 3's are showing their age and I will need to replace soon.

Or does someone have a better suggestion at this time? I'm all ears for a good pitch for about brand, as $245 a tire is not making me as happy the handling they gave me.

I really like the Kumho 4X. Not much tread life for an auto-crosser like me, but it served its purpose and I got a great deal on them through tirerack.com with the $50 visa rebate. Idk if that's still going on...

For a normal driver they would likely last much longer and are great bang for buck tires.

Sure is, I try to keep this list as current as possible. It's a sticky on the main page.
