Well it's dark and I tried a few lighting schemes in my living room but couldn't get near what my car's backup lights provide. The lighting was just too sketchy, either too dim or too bright so I'll just have to wait until I can get the camera installed and take an actual photo on the MFT display. I did have images from the camera tonight and I'm certain they were sufficient to have seen an obstacle or pedestrian well before impact, even in very dim lighting well below that provided by my backup lights.

Installed yesterday with an aftermarket camera and had just enough cable to reach Lockpick in center dash. I'm eventually going to run the USB cable to that panel located on the passenger side center console for easier updates.

Where did you snake your cable, TiTony? I should have plenty of cable myself they provided me with 5 meters worth, and one can always add a cable and RCA connector if needed.

Good Idea for the USB cable. Where did you end up mounting the Lock Pick outlet box?

So this camera install means you already have MFT (but no factory camera) in your SE, am I correct?

Well, JCW, my car is actually an SEL - apparently a sub model dropped by Ford for '13, probably because it was too close to a Ti and some of us chose to save a thousand bucks or so and still have a nicely equipped car. Anyway, yes I have MFT and reverse sensors but no camera.

Ahh ok gotcha, I'm hoping to do similar with a 2014 SE eventually, but I'm avoiding MFT, and without reverse sensors.

I do like most of the MFT and the funky things that come up for me aren't really MFT related, they are part of Sync. I do constantly use voice activation and find it handy and also safe. I probably wouldn't have ordered it when I bought my car, but my wife really liked it and now that I'm adding Lock Pick, I'll have video and camera in motion right on the nice 8" screen so I'm glad we got it. Oh, the reverse sensors have saved a ding or two for me as I do a lot of work in the driveway outside my ranch shop and have a lot of crap to navigate around when backing out of my garage - I really like the feature and will love having the back up camera.

BTW, I have no problems with being distracted by a vid on the MFT screen while driving, I can simply listen while my passenger watches.

Thanks, ended up routing the cable through the "S" shaped rubber wire bellow inside hatch into roof and over to "C" pillar panel just above the left parcel shelf ledge. There is enough open space underneath to feed cable,(coat hanger) through to weather stripping on the backside for the rear door. From there, it's just a run underneath the weatherstripping to inside the OBD2 door to the center stack. The box is just temporarily behind the MFT screen for now but going to reposition it later nearer the center console access panel.

For those considering a back up camera system, you might find this "Everything you need to know" article from eBay. http://www.ebay.com/gds/EVERYTHING-Y...0708736/g.html
