Shiny black trim between windows...swirls..

What is the best way to get rid of swirls on the shiny black trim pieces on the doors between the windows? This is on a 2013.

That plastic is very fragil. Agree the swirls are a nusance
I would use Meguaire's Scratch X to try to remove them
I use Meguaires Scratch X on CDs to remove scratchs and it really is great.
A super fine polish it does remove scratches on plastic.
I would say that is what i would use.
Mainly I do not touch my black side bits.. Less contact the fewer scratches.

Don't use wax on plastic unless it painted. It will exorb it and turn it white.

I have some Scratch-X and will try it. This is the shiny plastic...you can wax it.

I'm trying to imagine the trim. I always thought that trim along the bottom of the windows was just hard rubber. Unless you got the chrome bezels instead.

Not along the bottom, along the sides...the vertical pillars.

It must be something they changed for 2013. Cause I know for sure, the rear quarter side window was encapsulated in rubber all the way around it. If you got the base models it was just rubber along the bottom, if you got say the Ti then you got the chrome bezel.

We make all the glass for the focus in house including that entire rear quater window. But I haven't been in the encap dept in well over a year. I moved on to cut and grind where we cut the side, rear and windshields out of raw flat glass. To be sent on to the tempering department.

The best way to clean any marks off that rubber, is to take a mr clean magic eraser and gently rub in long strokes. Then wash off with water.

Not the rear quarters, the side windows. This is the SE with 201a. Can post a pic later.

You can hit those up with a polisher and some polish and it should remove the swirls. Make sure that you tape off the rubber first. I don't have pics, but I did mine and they looked like mirrors. They actually look pretty nice when shined up.
