I just voted, really like the focus I said that I have had some problems with the Focus but they have been fairly minor and Ford has been great at taking care of them!

I believe there's a TSB out for that now.

I hate mine. After almost 2k miles on it, it just makes me more angry every time I drive it. My 11yo F150 work truck feels like a high end Mercedes compared to this focus. Even with it's age, it still feels much better put together, drives better (sans handling of course), is quieter on the road, has far less rattles and such, and is much more comfortable. Frankly I'd rather walk then drive this car anymore if it was an option.

I am strongly considering dumping this car as soon as I get the title in the mail. The loss of several thousand dollars and just being done with this car is really looking like the lesser of the evils at this point. This is new Ford #6 over the last 15yrs or so, and it will most likely be the last. This car is junk, and it was a huge mistake buying it.

You did test drive it?
My focus rides better than my 06 f150 xl work truck. Maybe I cannot haul as much tail over speed bumps and potholes but I try to avoid that in my personal vehicles when possible.
Could even be the source of your rattles!
I have put 7885 miles on mine since Father's Day without a single issue.

I'm dreaming of swapping the focus for a raptor. A guy can dream right?

it's funny - you have to put everything in perspective. My neighbor has a new Q7 Audi.

Now I know it's a SUV, and the Focus is a "economy" car so they are in different leagues.

I am looking at a five year total cost of ownership (TOC) of just under $38,000 based on my zip code and 15,000 a year. (purchase price, maintenance, insurance and gas).

He is looking at a TOC of $98,000 based on the same. He boasts that he is driving a performance car, so the cost is more. Ok, it's (the Q7) .5 of a second quicker in the 0 to 60 time, lower top speed (the Q7) and the handling is rated at a .85 on the skidpad versus my .91 ( I have the sport package with the Pilot 3's).

He's been in a loaner car twice due to electrical issues. He has had it a month and a half, with half of that time in a loaner.

I have never been in a loaner, nor has mine been in the shop for nothing more than an update and oil changes.

Yet, he will clearly state the Ford is a piece of crap, and the Audi is a pure joy to own - that I do not understand German car ownership (mind you, the other half only will buy a Benz). Ours Benz has had issues putting us into a loaner twice as well.

Am I really missing out on spending more money and driving loaners? Sorry, I can't seem to wrap my head around why he thinks I'm the one being ripped off here.

And yes, I could afford to buy something in that league - but why? Cars are not the best investment...
