Kona rack mounts

Can someone post a picture of the kona rack mounts for me? Im thinking of making my own DIY rack rather than pay the bucks to get one, not a fan the thule/yakima look either. I know where the mounting points are and would like to see how the actual racks mounts look so that I could perhaps fabricate something similar.

Awesome, thank you so much for those. The mounts look alot simpler than I thought theyd be. What exactly is the purpose of the key and lock system on the front mounts? Is it just to hold the trim piece on?

I have been thinking about fabricating a rack since I learned about the mounting points earlier this year. Do you have a design ideas or are you just going to base it off of the kona design? Rambleon are there any aspects of the kona design that you don't like or could be improved upon?

Was going to base my design off the kona rack and maybe make modifications to it were i find neccessary, however it seems pretty foolproof already but Ill have to see once I get started.

Yes, the key is just for the locking mechanism to hold the cover on and so no-one can try to undo your rack.

To those who have a kona rack, is there any way that you would personally improve upon the design if you could?

I have a Thule so I can't speak from personal experience on the kona. the advantages are that its hard mounted and looks the cleanest of the racks available. it also has a larger payload for weight it can hold because it is semi permanently attached, my Thule with short rack adaptor is rated for only 135lbs (kona is 165lbs)

the drawbacks are that you have to drill into your roof, so if you plan on taking the rack off you have holes to plug. that's about it, its the best rack you can get for the focus.

Went to a scrap yard today to find replacement parts for stuff that is broken (some jerk broke my rear passenger triangle window). ended up going through the entire yard, 15 foci and not a single zx5.... so no rear window for me. however i did score a rack off of a focus wagon for cheap. Upon ripping out the wagons headliner and ripping the headliner out of a zx3 in the lot we found that the mounts are also on the ceiling of hatchbacks. Its not a perfect fit however Im thinking that I will be able to get it to fit. It got dark however so if i make any more progress I will take pics and try to post a how-to.
