2007 factory radio lighting

Hi all- I just replaced the factory single CD radio in my '07 wagon with the 6 CD changer model. It works great, but I noticed the face illumination is not very bright during the day and does not seem to be dimmable. Is this a problem with the radio, or did I hook up something wrong?
Thanks for any help.
Rick

If all you did was plug it into the factory harness check the pin with the dimmer wire( it should be orange with black) make sure its there.. it you rewired it make sure your illumination/dimmer wire are connected.. the turning switch that controls your dash lights also controls the radios light
