svt mirror install help

so i was able to get my hands on a set of svt folding mirrors. installing them was a piece of cake and they look ten times better then stock. the one problem i am runnning into is getting the heated mirror part to work. my car already had the wires for it when i disconnected my factory mirror. there were five wires on the plug with only three coming from my stock mirror. the svt has five so i should be good on that side. fuse # 50 is noted as the fuse for the heated mirrors. when i activate me rear defroster i get power to fuse #50. but somewhere between the fuse and they door there must be a missing link because my mirrors just arent getting the power. i can feel heat from the back window when the defroster is on, the mirror glass should be getting warm also? but it dosent. i have gone through about 30 pages of threads and have come up with, its either, pre-wired or note wired at all. mine seems to be stuck in the middle of that.
thanks for reading and any help would be great :D

You've tested the plug for the mirror and have no power there?

If so, an easy fix would be to run a new wire from the fuse to the mirror plug and skip any possible breaks or missing parts in the old wire. A harder fix would be to try to follow the wire and track down where the power ends.

Should heated/power mirrors be plug and play on a Focus with only power mirrors?

A better question is why some one that lives in Texas needs heated mirrors

Yes.

If you were to inspect the plug on the mirror's side; is there a bent terminal, corrosion or rust?

Well, just because I live in Texas doesn't mean I don't go anywhere cold. I just spent the last 5 years in Virginia. Plus having heated mirrors also helps when they are all fogged up. As far as the mirrors, the fuse gets power off and on when I cycle the defroster. That's where it ends. The mirrors are wired but that ends at the door jam harness. I did take apart the whole fuse box but couldn't figure how to get power to the door jam harness. There's no way to tell what wires coming in and out of the fuse box are what. That's where I am stuck.

So they would come on with the rear window defroster if I installed them on my SE? Isn't there a specific switch for the heated mirrors on the SVT?

No specific switch for heated mirrors on svt. They are activated with rear defrost.
