Creating a Louder Magnaflow

I've put about 10k miles on my Magnaflow cat-back system and although I really like the tone, it isn't quite loud enough for me. I want to find a way to get more sound, but stay legal in CA (or easily revert back to legal for smogging)
In my search for a way to get a little more noise, I stumbled on something the mustang guys seem to really enjoy: the Magnapack muffler, found here, could potentially replace the Magnaflow muffler that comes with the system.

Is this a feasible option for us guys who want a little more sound from their Magnaflow systems? What do you think?

Another option I came across would be the Duratec headers. A test pipe would also work, but I don't know if one exists that would fit our cars. Ideas?

Have you considered just removing the resonator and replacing it with a straight pipe? This is what a buddy of mine did.

Haha I actually did that about a week after I got the system. Now I just have the rear muffler. Still looking for a bit more noise.

LOL, ok. In that case then a new muffler is in order.

What I'm wondering now is if the "resonator" on the Magnaflow system is, in fact, a Magnapack muffler.

That is a good question. Put the resonator back and remove the muffler and see how it sounds.

I'm willing to bet it will sound like accidental anal... I have a copy of the magnaflow exhaust in 2.5" ran to exit in the center. Have two straight through round magnaflow "mufflers" inline. One up front, one right before the rear suspension. I ran it first with all the piping and just the front muffler... Needless to say my exhaust guy and I QUICKLY cut out a spot for the second one.

Do you attribute any of the sound you didn't like to your pipe diameter? How would you compare the volume/tone of the system you have now to the Magnaflow system?

That is what I will do once an official MK3 header comes out.
