Odometer vs trip odometer discrepancy

Has anyone else noticed that your odometer is reading higher than the summation of individual trip odometer readings used to calculate fuel economy?

I forget exactly how far off my SEL was, but the ST has the odometer reading around 1.5 miles or more faster than the result of adding all of the trip one mileage for fuel economy over around 6292-6294.x miles.

I have been closely monitoring mine and the only difference I have seen at most was 1MPG. Most were under but this is due to the Odometer does not show the tenth of a mile while the trip does unless on the 4 quadrant screen.

I think the reason the MPG is higher on the car is because the EPA and car manufactures use E0 instead of E10 which gives you a ~2 MPG difference. All of my calculated MPGs have been about 2 MPG off from the car calculations.

Not talking about the miles per gallon here, but the actual odometer reading vs the total miles covered according to the addition of all of the trip data with the trip computer reset after each fuel stop.

The highest percent difference I've seen in fuel economy vs the computer is 17.26 % different. That's not the issue, the issue is the car has recorded more mileage traveled than the total of all of the fuel logs and I am not sure why.

The odometer reads 1.5 miles or so higher at the moment after 629x miles than all of the data recorded after each fuel stop.

I.e the recorded distance driven is only 6292.5, vs the car reporting over 6294 miles on the odometer.

Fuel log vs odometer:

Remember that your trip odometer is only accurate to 0.1 miles and the odometer is one accurate to 1 mile as far as what you can see. For all we know the difference you're seeing can be down to that. Your first trip says 297.8 but it could be 297.89 that adds up over time.

Odometer vs trip odometer discrepancy

Or made a '.8,' that was supposed to be a '.6.'

Unlikely since I've gone over the data multiple times, the calculations match 100% with what was recorded at the moment.

Mine was only around 1.5 miles off so far, but my brothers was over 5 miles off over 20,000 miles.

Just curious as to how far apart is nominal.

No need to bash here, just looking for data to compare.

They should realistically be spot on accurate. 1.5/6300 is an error of 0.02380952381% So I'm not worried about it, but it does seem odd.

I went over mine and I only found a .1 miles difference to the overall Trips combined to Odometer. I did not include my first few fuel ups as those are a little questionable.

It could be due to simply to rounding.
The odometer shows to the mile, the trip to the tenth.
The 30 you started with may have been 30 or perhaps it was 30.3, but the car rounded down as it had yet to reach 31. At each of your stops, you may not have been exactly to the tenth, but perhaps .23 miles instead of .2 Rather than those fragments past a tenth never shown, and lot to your trip record, but still contributing to your over all mileage on the odometer. Over time those fragments add up, and can lead to a discrepancy.
Also, if you ever recorded the trip # and moved a bit prior to resetting, would also be fragments lost...

The only thing that mattered in the log was that the first tank was at 327.8 miles, I subtracted 30 miles just to deduct the fact that the car was refueled before I picked it up.

I don't use trip two for tenths now that it's out of sequence with the main odometer having been reset around 866.1 miles (which for some reason was already that far off with the tanks adding up to just 865.6 miles).
