Spraying (paint, powder coat, etc.)

I'm looking to see if anybody has or knows anybody willing to educate me on spraying. Right now I'm looking at laying some paint of some sort down or powder coating on some old shocks of mine and if possible bake them. I'm also going to be replacing an upper control arm so I want to use the old one to test a different method on. So if anybody has any insight they are willing to share with me I would greatly appreciate or if you know where I can find out this info that would be even better! Thanks

I wouldnt powdercoat shocks. Theyre under pressure already (check out the labels on them) so that'd just be asking for an explosion when they get hot
