I think it'd be interesting to see a data log of the intake temp with and without the lid... When I get off work I shall play around with CAD and see what I come up with. Hopfully gain some approval from the true experts sch as DYN and suss

Tbone: I must have read that wrong, my fault. I thought they were saying that the sound frequency was causing the MAF to crack.

I personally like the sound with the lid off but, to each their own.

I would like to see the temp. difference a well.

You read it right. "Resonance" would be the vibration caused by the sound. There are plenty of owners driving around with loud, resonating intakes with no MAF issues. The only MAF issues reported were the overtightened K&N filters, which is unrelated.

i ran with the top off for awhile noticed no change in engine temp. just got a bit annoying... the sound was great, but not all the time.

I just took the top off of my '13 SE's stock intake box and so far I don't see a downside--then again I prefer a loud aggressive sounding intake. After recording some videos I ran up to O'Reilly's to pick up some wipers and had a Mistu Evo owner give me a thumbs up when I rolled up. I get the feeling I might get some heads turned with my FoFo being this loud and sexy. What can I say, I love this car.

My '03 SVTF was awesome sounding enough but this new 2.0L in my '13 sounds absolutely awesome in both stock and modified form...almost sounds like a boxer engine. I might put the lid back on after drilling some holes but I don't know yet--need more daily driving to have a larger sample of evidence. I do know the paper filter is probably going to stay to make sure less debris gets through. Don't really care about power, more sound and cosmetic look. This is also why I'm thinking about getting either a used 350Z muffler/tips or cutting the Flo-Pro muffler off of my '90 Camaro to put on the Focus. Cheap mods for the win!

If anyone is interested I have two short videos of what the car sounds like without the stock airbox lid just in case you want to know just how bloody loud it can be.
