Tuner wont work

Well got a tuner from Tom , Down loaded the custom tune to hand held unit , went to car plugged it in uploaded the stock tune , started to download custom tune and it went to 20% and failed , screen stated to down load stock tune and that keeps failing too !! So now I basically have a lump of metal in garage that will not do anything !!!! Anyone got any ideas ?? Tried to call Tom but no answer !! Should I just burn the car to ground ?????

Unfortunately this is quite common with SCT tuners and the SVT. They just don't play nice with each other.

Here's what I've done when this happens:
If you have a battery charger, have it plugged in and connected to the battery during the entire process. If not, just make sure the battery is good and charged up.
Pull fuses 20 (engine bay), 46 and 61 (dash).
When the tuner says to turn the key to on, off, or run, do so immediately. Fast reactions are important here.
Even doing the above it may take a few tries, but it has worked for me.

Good luck! Don't burn the car down yet!

Waiting on Tom to get back to me on this ,, Called twice all I get is voice mail !! Have used an X-Cal on my f-250 and my tuner has used his and software for custom tuning my Mach1 so I have never had problems with their stuff before .... If there is a problem with the two playing nice with eachother why does he still sell this type instead of another brand that will work better ???

I have all kinds of problems with my xcal3 and my focus too.

Try this:

Plug in tuner
Turn key to the on position
scroll over on tuner to upload custom tune
select tune
select continue
I think you get a prompt that says "turn key on and press continue" - well, your key is already on, so press continue. As soon as your tuner goes to the next screen, turn your key off and on again quickly. You may get an error that says "make sure key is on!" - ignore it and just wait....and your tune may load.

This is all contrary to the instruction prompts on your tuner. This is the ONLY way I can get my car to load any tune...stock or otherwise.

Good luck.
