Is there any way to predict ford rebate cycle?

I'm sooo close to buying a new focus it isn't even funny. But unfortunately, none of the local dealers have either the color or the package I was interested in.

One dealer in particular has good prices, generally selling cars at "invoice" minus whatever ford rebates are applicable at that time. But when ordering cars, they won't commit to a price up front...all they will commit to is the initial discount from retail to invoice, and they say that I'd have to wait and see what the rebates are when the car arrives.

Now, I really don't want to gamble when ordering my car. I'm wondering if historically there is a typical minimum rebate package, and a maximum. Sort of a 'range' that fluctuates over the year. If it was 90% likely that there would be a typical summer rebate package, I might go ahead and order. Otherwise, maybe I'd search far away dealers for current stock, or try and time my order, or, find a dealer who will deal up front.

Simply looking for some general guidance on historical ford rebates (availability over the entire calendar year) and any tips on how to negotiate price on a special order (ie, are these guys giving me the runaround, or is this typical?).

The problem you have is when ordering you are looking at a 2014 not a 2013. Since we don't have rebates for 14's who knows what it will be when it is released.

Rebates go off of days supply, the higher the supply the better the rebate. The lower the supply the worse the rebate, typically.

Thanks. Good to know they're not messing with me. Now that I know exactly what I want, it might be a matter of monitoring stock/availability, and price/rebates, and strike and just the right time. or pay a bit more and dive in...
