As someone who has spent some time under the hood, I can see the merits of this system (cleaner, easier to work under, etc). However, closing it as intended from a low height shouldn't damage the hood. Don't belittle the product by creating "solutions" to a problem that can be solved by not slamming your hood.

I'm not belittling the product, but having worked in a body shop, most people don't drop them from 6", I have seen may drop them from a ft or more. I can see the merits of both the prop rod and the hood struts. The struts definitely provide a cleaner loon and I would say add a little more stability when the hood is up along with ease of access under the hood. But again it is all preference on to what you prefer

I like the product, and 90 bucks for the black set is reasonable. But I agree with the other poster, this should be standard equipment from the factory.

Yes it should be, but think about it, they pulled the engine covers from the TI builds for cost (at least that's what's speculated)... $5 prop rod versus $90 hood struts. Not cost effective for Ford

To be fair, the struts would not have cost $90 for each set in the numbers ford would be purchasing them from the supplier, but your point is still valid. I guess the prop rod probably wouldn't cost them $5 either, for that matter...

Even though the weight difference may be incremental, I still don't feel like adding even a couple extra pounds to the top of the front end.

Mine came in today and 15 minutes later done. I think they add value. Best part is in the dark I don't have to find that damn hole. Worth every penny.
