Note to Ford: Think BMW...Offer an "ST Sport Package" as an option for the non-ST Focii, following BMW's "M Sport package" for the non-M models.

I did this swap, then traded the car for an ST.

The previous cover was damaged and I liked the appearance of the ST parts better, but later I decided I really wanted the ST and not just the front facia.

Too bad you didn't buy an ST to begin with, but you know what they say about hindsight being 20/20. The car looks great in silver by the way. I also think that the rear end is the money shot...much prettier than the front.

I couldn't have just bought an ST to begin with though as when I was going to order a car the ST was not available, and there was no timeline of when they would be available other than sometime in the fall. The price rumors of the base model being $30k also were a bit of a turn off. I'd ordered the SEL in March of 2012, and had it in May, the Earliest STs didn't start showing up until September/October.

My old car was starting to fall apart (rust mostly, but then after picking up the new car it started to have brake issues and was very noisy. It did have 235,000+ miles on the odometer though. I probably could have put a bit more money into keeping it going, like I had put new tires and a new timing belt with water pump and valve cover gasket on it about 3-6 months before getting the new car.

I wasn't in desperate need for a car, but the SEL met the criteria for what I wanted at the time. Had I waited for the 2012 order banks to close I probably would have skipped the SE or Ti straight for the ST, but at that time the 13 order guide was unavailable and the 12s were a known commodity.

I'd spent hours researching and trying to decide what to get before ordering in the first place.

Of course last I heard my old car was becoming a project for a 16-17 year old girl and her father who was a friend of my father after I had sold him the car for $1 to get rid of it at the time.

In retrospect I could have saved a whole lot of time and money by not buying the 12, but my grandfather had helped me to get it by providing a z-plan pin having retired from Ford many years ago, he also passed last December, so I had to go with x-plan through work + a special bonus incentive for where I worked to bring the cost closer to a/z plans.

I also didn't expect to be getting out of the car in less than a year either, but life is what happens while you're out making bigger plans.

Suss, congratulations on the ST. Life is too short to continue wanting something that you can afford, and not having it. It's clear that the decisions that you made were the right decisions for you at the time you made them.

None of Ford's product line seems uniform at least the SUV lineup, but the recent testing images lead me to believe they will be changing the front on the Focus and the C-Max as well. Both cars are in this shot, the C-Max is in the back and below you can see a similar mock-up on the fascia.

The ugly mock up has basically the same opening as the design intent of the Aston Martin grill, I would say it's just basic airflow testing for cold weather without giving away too much. There is some speculation on what it is, but I think they are right on the fascia change or new engine addition, RS I am not so sure about.

The grille openings don't match on either mule. The Focus looks like a hacked up ST facia with a different grille, and has been speculated to be either a new facia for the 2015, or for the RS. It could just be mocked up for air flow testing on the 2.3L EcoBoost i4 engine rather than anything that means much in terms of production cars.

Anyway I'd hope it wasn't going to be the next focus as the Aston styled grille doesn't fit right on the Focus Electric and Fiesta.
