Help with 2012 Focus SE hatchback

My wife and I bought a 2012 Focus SE hatchback in March 2012(18,300 miles now on it). We love the vehicle! I've been reading a lot about issues with the DCT transmission and after a while my wife finally got used to the way the "automatic/manual" tranny reacted. It's been a great vehicle..........until a couple of days ago. We are now experiencing the same issue as a lot of other owners have. The tranny sounds like it's shredding in 1st-2nd gear when taking off from a stop. We had it in to dealer a couple of days ago, were told a transmission "reprogram" should clear up problem. It did not.

I told the service writer that this is a known issue with the 2012 Focus DCT, it's all over the internet, I even wanted to him view a "Youtube" video of the exact sound our vehicle was making but he would not view it. I have an appointment tomorrow so I can have a tech ride with me so he can hear it. This all seems like it's staged.

We've owned 4 Fords and all have been wonderful cars. Heck, I had a '99 F150 with 226,000 miles on it that we got rid of to get the 2012 Focus. We are extremely disappointed now and my wife does not trust the vehicle. We feel like a couple of duped people. From what I read, there is no solution to this problem other than getting an attorney and filing a lemon law suit. We want the car we fell in love with fixed and running as well as it was a month ago. What is to be done?

Hi BillyKeith,

Send me a private message (PM) with your information so I can get your regional customer service manager involved. Please include your VIN, mileage, dealer, daytime phone number, and full name. I'll get this into the right hands.

Thanks!

Crystal
