Car doesn't want to start

My friend's car has a major issue with starting. Sometime his car will not start and will need to be jumped. It can happen after it sits for a day, a few hours, or even right after turning it off and back on. Other times it will start up just fine. It will still have power because the lights will come on and everything. The remote locks will even lock and unlock. Does anyone know what will cause this at all?

Your friend needs a new battery. The starter puts a much higher load on the battery than the lights or the door locks, so being able to run accessories off the battery doesn't really tell you anything. If jumping starts the car, the most likely problem is the battery has reached the end of its life.
