aftermarket header cats

SOL in California trying to get a cat that isn't over a grand. Anyone have a review or opinion for the header cats being made by magnaflow or pacesetter?

What do you want to know about them? they are not for use in CA. No CARB sticker. You would probably pass emissions and it looks stock....

I wanted to know if anyone is using them without getting a CEL? Shouldn't be to hard to get one back into CA and install at home over a weekend. could be worth the effort if anyone can vouch for them operating as good as stock.

I was informed that these do not throw a CEL. Although, I sensed hesitation in his response. Could you run your stocker for emissions and then just bolt this one on after it passes?

What does Calif. check for during your emmissions test? Do they just check for codes thru your 0bd2 connecter & a MIL? Or do they look under your hood? That'd tell you which way to go. If they look under your hood, then a header wouldn't work. If thats the case you could bolt on a 23 ST mani/cat.

If thats the case, he could add a '05-'7 ST mani/cat if it'll make a difference, vs the log one he has now.

Not a performance issue really. will need replacing before smog time too resolve a p0480 cel.
I would consider something that looks and performs stock from the aftermarket even if it isn't carb legal.
