2004 Screaming Yellow EAP SVTF #1522

My name is Mike from MN and this is my second SVTF. I sold my Sonic Blue '02 last summer (to FF member "SHEMPI") and I missed it dearly. It had some high miles and I did some sorting of the car before I sold it off... but I counted the days until I could find myself in another one. I've really enjoyed the Focus community and I've even attended the "Focus Rising" event last year.

on to the car... on Autotrader I found a completely stock screaming yellow ZX3 Focus SVT EAP in Greenville, SC with only 63K on it. The two colors I was after was either screaming yellow or competition orange. To find one all stock and with this low of miles I assumed would be quite a task, and it was. The car had ALL of it's documentation including the vehicle identification number and original window sticker. This car is one of 121 made in Screaming Yellow (d6). It is number 1522 of 1978 ZX3 SVT's made in 2004.

The shipping was a nightmare as going through a brokerage company forced me to wait over a month for pick-up. Because of the transition of Winter to Spring, not too many willing drivers wanting to take the car up to the icy, cold tundra of Northern MN. I had the car delivered to Autonation of White Bear Lake (formally Tousley Ford). A big thanks to Steve (FORDSVTPARTS) who agreed to have the car delivered AND was nice enough to give the car a good run around. Steve was also nice enough to let me give his prided SVT a good thrashing as well... for comparisons sake :)

I also had the car serviced; FULL 60K maintenance complete and new plugs and wires. Car still needs a clutch and brakes/pads on all four corners. Car will also need some cosmetic issues cleared up as well, a few dents and some stone chips. The car right now has ONE modification; a "Focus Sport" front strut bar which I picked up last week.

Headlights polished up:

Engine bay cleaned up a bit:

Litestorm and myself took some pics with the car:

Got the interior pretty sorted out... 1Z deep plastic cleaner and some cockpit premium spray got the dash looking great! Then some Chemical Guys leather cleaner and the car looks pretty fresh...

Engine bay before:

Engine bay after:

Car will be used as my daily driver and for various car shows down in the Twin Cities and around town. This weekend I plan on giving the car a GOOD detail using various products from Chemical Guys, Griot's, Zaino 1Z, Sonax and Meguiars. The car has been clayed and preped, so the polish stage is next. I want to get the car protected quite well. I've already had the Mach headlights polished back to perfection, installed a new front chin spoiler and clean and detailed the interior.

Thanks for looking!

Car is completely STOCK (other than the FocusSport strut bar I put on). I had the 60K maintenance done at Tousley and had SVT guru Steve give it a good look through... 5thousand miles ago it got new tires and a t-stat change from the previous owner...

I don't really know what I want to do with the car as far as modifications go? It's not very often you find a car this stock and clean... and under 100k miles.

My initial plan was to just daily drive the car, which i'm still going to do, but I don't know if I want to add some power, up the suspension or change the looks slightly??

I considered a drop on coilovers, a PWsupercharger some mesh style rims and a Euro grille or Reiger body kit to give it that nice "Euro look"... I haven't decided the direction yet because I have a few other cars I'd like to finish up first and foremost...

That car is clean! If you go Rieger, just do the front bumper, Rieger does not make a rear bumper, they make a rear apron. The rear apron attaches to a Euro bumper and looks like shit. Since you would have to buy a Euro bumper anyway, just get an RS Collection bumper. Leave your sideskirts alone unless you are going for a '98 bumper with a Rieger lip - then Roush skirts look better. For your Euro grille, get an ST170 to keep it more in line with what your car is, or get a Hofele. Look into ESM wheels, a few Focus owners have them and they look fantastic!

As I said somewhere else, I would have done the exact thing you did if I found this car: bought it. Very nice and looks great cleaned up.
