Emoji's causing sync to have voice recognition problems

So about a month ago I started having a problem with my sync system. When I would say "Call ...(person's name)", it would either dial the last contact in my phone, or wouldn't do anything at all. I took it to the dealer and they unplugged the battery, which reset the sync system, and that fixed it for about a month. About a week ago I started having the same problem. I took it to Ford today and left it with them for 5 hours. They said this problem is most likely due to the fact that I have emoji's installed on my iphone (even though they aren't in any of my contact names). I have an appointment to drop it off tomorrow morning and they plan to do a full reboot and re-program the sync system which should take about 1-2 hours. They said after the reboot, I should have my emoji's turned off on my phone and not to turn them back on. This sucks because I use emoji's all the time! Does this sound normal?? And has anyone else experienced this problem? All other voice commands work except for when I want to make a call. FYI I do not have MFT.

I've had similar problems on occasion with my Android. In my case, deleting and re-downloading the phonebook solves the issue.

I did that last month when I took it in and that fixed it for a little while, then it stopped working again. I dont want to have to reset the sync system every month

That worked, but resetting the sync system worked better? If not, why reset Sync?

Because Ford dealers don't have a clue on how to fix the system since Ford itself doesn't have a clue.

Not exactly sure what you're asking here lol. They reset sync last time by unplugging the battery, but this time, they plan to do what they call a "full reboot and re-program" which involves basically erasing its memory and starting fresh. They said once my phone was paired with emoji's, the sync system always remembers it which is apparently whats causing the problem.

Thats what i'm starting to believe as well. They sent a message to some other representative from Ford that is higher up and their reply was that it is because of the Emoji's.

OK, so why are you concerned that you'll have to "reset the Sync system every month"?

Well, last time I brought it to them for the same issue, they unplugged the battery and thought they fixed it.. so im saying I dont want this to be how they resolve the problem again because it will most likely stop working again.

SYNC/MFT doesn't like those "foreign icons" at all lol. Mine would without fail freeze up/screen go black/reset itself everytime because I had an Icon next to my now ex-gf's name when I would call her after work. Once I figured out it was that and deleted the emoji icon, never had a problem since!

I'll note that it only happened when calling someone with an icon next to their name etc, but they are installed on my iPhone use them everyday and I haven't had any other issues since then.
