No iPhone notifications while driving Focus???

I've noticed that whenever I'm driving in my Focus, I can't hear any iPhone notifications such as text messages, alerts or reminders if my phone is connected via blutooth and I'm listening to the radio or siriusXM? Test it out for yourselves. If you guys have an iphone, the next time you're driving in your car, start typing out a message and you won't even be able to hear the "clicks" that the phone makes. Is this something that Ford designed so people wont be distracted while driving?

I'm curious to see if anyone else has experienced this.

This is normal, i think its just because sync takes over all audio functions.

Im sure someone will chime in with a more technical answer.

No text message is that important enough to distract me from driving so I don't mind that I can't hear it I prefer it. There are way too many people texting and driving anyways. If something is that important I would much rather get a phone call as that's easy to answer, just a click on the steering wheel! But I get your point, yes I don't get any notifications when my phone is connected and I'd like to leave it that way ha!

Doesn't the text chime play over your speakers and interrupt your sync and give you the option for the car to read the text to you?

With my Samsung GSIII, when I get a text, a chime plays over the speakers (not the phones chime) and interrupts whatever I'm listening to and gives me the option to have the car read it to me aloud.

some, not all, Andriods will work in this car. No iPhone will. That comes from Apple techs and Ford support.

Not sure about BB's.

Well that sucks big time. That's one of my favorite features. I love being able to listen to the text to judge whether I should call someone or if can wait until I'm to my destination.

Phone is trying to play the sounds via BT audio but sync is on sirius or whatever so the audio from the phone doesn't get played. There should be some option to change this IIRC. I have an android which works flawlessly, but my gf's iphone works too when connected to BT and she's playing music via usb on the ipod.

Well that would make sense... if my phone is connected to sync via bluetooth, navigation won't play through the phone, you have to change the car to "BT audio"

I found this to be the case most of the time, however, sometimes when I put a destination in google maps while listening to sirius, it will interrupt the music to give me turn by turn directions, but then other times it wont. I have no idea why
