Focus ST seats and heated mirrors

My sister is looking at the ST, and wants to know 2 things.

Are the Recaro's worth it? (I suppose that depends on how you fit in the seat)

And why is the only way to get heated mirrors the highest option ( she lives in Virginia and says that's useful). She doesn't car for all the electronic extras (Sirius for one).

The SE has a winter package, why doesn't the ST.........

thanks

First, have your sister go sit in the recaro's, if she fits and is comfortable, then I would say they are worth it.

Is your sister hot?? jk jk but in all reality options are what they are on the ST. My main regret was not getting the ST when I bought my car. I figured I didn't really need it and would settle for my SE. Again, I regret that............

I have heated mirrors and they're effectively useless. The last time it snowed there was approx. 1/8" of snow on my mirrors and the mirror couldn't melt the snow even after my 35 minute drive. Same with the heated seats, they're nice and hot for about 5-10 minutes, after that they never get more than lukewarm. Winter package is a complete waste of money IMO, aftermarket heated seat kits are far superior to the Ford OEM ones.

Recaro's are the dog's appendages they really are, best seat money can buy IMO. I would be surprised if your sister wasn't more than comfortable sitting in them and if your sister drives the ST as it was designed for , now and again, then she'll be glad she's in them.

I have two vehicles with heated mirrors and two without. It's not something that really makes a difference. I would never make a purchasing decision on heated mirrors.

Heated seats; I personally despise them, I hate the hot butt sensation, my wife loves them. Again we have two cars with and two without, i never turn them on. You can buy a kit to put heated seats in any car for around $150.

As for the Recarros; I test drove and ST with the all leather Recarros. I didn't care for them, they didn't allow me to wiggle around in the seat which I like to do on long drives and the side bolster on the seat bottom was a pain to get in and out from, kept hitting my head on the door frame.

I bought an ST with the standard sport seats. 10k miles latter I have no regrets.

Just recently I attended the Ford ST Performance Academy at one of their Ecoboost Challenges. I had an opportunity to thrash on both a Focus ST and a Fiesta ST, they both had the Recarros. This experience reaffirmed my decision to not buy the Recarro seats.

Of course if you intend to participate in track days or autocross then you will want the Recarros but if the car is being used as a sporty commuter save the money and get the standard seats.

Slightly off-topic, but you should get that looked at. My mirrors clear snow and ice off very fast, and my seats will stay toasty with no issues.

The cloth recaros are nice. They fit a smaller sized person (myself). If your a larger person who wants adjustable seats you need to get the all leather version. I don't have the heated seats but in my wifes 02 SVT focus the things are like fire and work great. Day to day in my cloth recaro's has been painless as i sit back in the seat and don't slouch all GANGSTAR like.
