thanks. i have some anaerobic sealant (which is what is recommended in the how-to i will follow)
also need to get red threadlock for the bolts.

FordManSVT is correct, you cannot know what shim you need until your new part in there and remeasured for preload. May use same shim or even thinner possible. No way to know ahead of time the overall length of new part, they have a tolerance there and it could go either way.

I have the same problem on automatics, use same shim or sometimes WAY off. Depends on how close replacement part is.
