Black 2012 S

So 17JUL12 I decided I had had enough of my G35. It got 20 mpg if I was lucky, and the clutch was going bad. All quotes were in the $3K range to have it replaced. My at the time fiance had just gotten a '12 focus a few months before, and even with the DCT it was a fun little car. I went by the local dealership and after finding out I can't fit comfortably in a fiesta, I drove the only 5 speed focus home. Unfortunately the only one they had was a black sedan, neither fact I like, but it's worth it to have 3 pedals.

These are from when I first got it, still new, still stock. That lasted maybe 2000 miles I think? Something like that. Then I cut off the muffler.

Simple mod, slight increase in loudness, very nice idle. This is the first 4 banger I've had and not hated. I was very sketchy about being able to make it sound better than stock, since I've never heard one that sounded good. However, I love loud vehicles, so I had to give it a try after seeing it all over here and listening to it on the youtubes a dozen times.
Next came K&N and newmission mod.

I didn't add the filter wrap like he suggests, bad idea.

Next, the terrible contenentals had to go. Even though I work for Michelin, I love my BFG's. Still get them free, as we own them. I've always like white letter tires, so after convincing 3 friends to run them on their cars I figured it was time for me to get a set of Radial T/A's.
Cleanest you'll see it.

Definitely wider.

This is how it sat for a long time. I've only recently gotten interested in upgrade with it again. I started off with some lighting mods, LED marker lamps and backup lights for now.
Very easy to do the marker lamps, the MK3 lighting thread has a good walktrhough on page 1 or 2. I love how easy it is to remove the headlights on these things.

New bulb in.

I tried red for a day or two, but it felt too ricey (and illegal) so I went with white in the end.

New reverse bulbs.

Left is new, right is stock.

FEDEX brought me a nice present today, I'd expected UPS and their 8pm delivery so I'd schedule an exhaust appointment for tomorrow. Luckily the guy's flexible and it's currently getting done right now.

I used the drill saw hole cutter thing from the newmission mod to make indents into the rear bumper for the tailpipes. Still haven't decided on tips, so it's going to be raw pipe for now. 2.5" from the cat back. $110 for the muffler, $190 for the install.

Also, this happened at some point.

Guess I need to make some sliders.

I've seen some of this in other posts, nice thread with the whole history together.

Look like you've had fun with it.

Cheers!

Thanks, they're 215/60R15. They're going next week, got some 235/55R16 tires coming in that are supposed to be pretty good in the dirt, along with some new wheels.

It's a fun car for what it is. Great on gas, peppy, and it handles great. It can also stick a landing pretty well. I really didn't feel like I was stepping down that much going from my G35, even though it's nearly half the horsepower.

Exhaust is done. A bit loud, a bit ricey. Probably going to have a glasspack added inline like everyone else does.

Also, this is done. Still need to wire them up though.
