Lift support, wagon vs. hatch

Does anyone know if the lift supports for the wagon and the hatchback are the same? If not could someone measure the length of their hatchback lift supports so I can see if they are the same as the wagon?

If you don't know what I'm talking about you might call them tailgate struts or something but it's the thing that holds up the rear door/tailgate

Thanks

Are you talking about #8?

I borrowed that image from tousley ford, they specify "Support cylinder coupe Right/Left" and "Support cylinder wagon Right/Left".

You could give them a call and ask if the part is different between the hatch/wagon, id venture to say they are different though. I can measure my hatch when I get home though; do you want fully extended measurement or the black shaft body only?

Yes it's number 8 in the diagram. If you could measure both fully extended and the black part that would be great.

Why don't you just run parts at Rock Auto? Different numbers would tell you they are not the same part.

Because some parts list both wagon and hatch, and others say sedan, wagon, and hatch, so I don't trust it because I know that the ones for a trunk are different.

O'Reilly Auto clearly lists three part numbers and three prices.............one for each.

If you read the parts descriptions, it says they are different lengths.

The ones on my liftgate are ~11 in for the black part and ~18.75 fully extended. So the overall length is the same, which explains why the supports listed on O'Reilly's as hatch say they are compatible with ZTW and the wagon ones with ZX3.

Now I wonder if one is stronger than the other...
