Question battery light

Alright so i have a 2001 zx3. When i sit at idle my battery light comes on. I checked the voltage with the dash and when the light comes on its either sitting at 12 volts or15 volts. Otherwise the voltage is normal. When the light comes on i hold the car at alil higher rpm then idle and the light goes off.

Now this is were i think its weird. The batter light never comes on when im running the ac. I can have the music going, lights on, and ac at full blast and the light never ever comes on.

So any ideas on whats wrong here?? I checked the pig tail for the alternator and it seems solid plus i sprayed it with electrical cleaner spray and still no help.

Yeah... mine started doing that and about a week later my alternator went bad. My diodes burnt out and it sucked my battery dry.

I would have just fixed the original motorcraft one. I had mine repair in 2 hours for $55 and had it running the same day. I took it to a shop that all they do is repair starters and alternators. They tested it and told me what was wrong and how much it would cost... It was a whole hell of a lot cheaper than a refurb or a new one and I did all the work myself.

I generally favor the local rebuilder alternative. In this case, however, doesn't NAPA give at least a years warranty on the damned thing?
Good Luck,

Did not know that. lol That sounds a little too cheap to me though but it's a damn good price if it is new and whatnot.
