Just got mine done Tuesday morning. $160 for all 7 windows and a windshield strip. 20% all around. Same shop has done 6 other cars for me. One of which I had for 12 years and the tint still looked as good the day I sold it as the day I had it installed. Preliminary quote was $195 but got a discount for paying cash and being a friend of the guy that runs the shop.

Now I just need to ditch these stupid hubcaps!

willing to pay to have it done right the first time

I just had luminar ceramic tint done at the G5 shop in pasadena, it was 375 which was a lot but I feel like the they did a great job and it looks very professional. I was happy to pay for great tint and good work, I am too poor to cheap out and then have to do the job twice!!

It is my understanding that ceramic will not interfere with GPS or electronics devices. I have it on my Lexus. good stuff. I have Suntek Carbon XP on my un-badged Focus. I really do not like that name. I called it an Escort for a very longtime. Going forward I refer to it as FORD lol Truth. Same price, but I feel less heat with 3M. Suntek is a very good product though. 3M Ceramic is hard to work with. You have to be certified by 3M to install it.

3M™ Automotive Window Films – Ceramic Series

•Nano-ceramic technology combines excellent heat rejection with amazing clarity
•Helps maintain car's original appearance: window tint allows 30% to 50% of the light into your car
•Improves comfort: rejects up to 80% of the sun's IR rays and rejects up to 59% of the heat coming through your windows
•No signal interference: Ceramic Series films are non-metallized
•Interior protection: blocks up to 99% of harmful UV rays to reduce fading of your car's interior
•UV/Skin protection: provides SPF of up to 1000, a Skin Cancer Foundation recommended product
•Never turns purple: guaranteed for the life of the film

Has anyone used the Black Box Alpine precut ceramic film? Am#z## has it for $89.99 precut for my four door hatch. It's two ply ceramic, and is (suppose) to be equal to 3m or Llumar ceramic films. You can mix and match the VLT% how you like.

I tinted my own windows on an International Scout, but all the glass was flat (easy).
I've watched some videos, and I think the back glass on my Focus might need to be heated and shaped, and the windshield if I do it. The rest should be straight forward. I have a heat gun and access to nice shop space to do it at.

I'm thinking 35% VLT all around and 70% VLT on the windshield. I know the windshield tint is not legal here in Texas, but I work out of my car, and 105 degree heat is on us. I have a Tux black with black leather. I feel like I'm in a greenhouse, it takes too long for the AC to catch up after a stop. I'm hoping that a complete ceramic tint job should solve the problem.

What Shop?

I'm in Madison as well and am looking at having my car tinted. What shop did you go to? I was considering TNT Window Tinting in Middleton.

I'll try and search the forums but do you have any photos posted or available of your car? I would like to see how it looks. I was originally planning do to 35% front / 20% rear just as you described but I am slightly leery of doing so since it's a step below the legal limits (50% F / 35% R).

Do you find that the 20% in the back is difficult to see out of at night?

I have 20% on all five windows, and there's no problems with it. I've had almost every level of tint imaginable on my past vehicles, from 5%-40%, and I think 20% is a happy compromise on visibility and aesthetics.

It takes a few days to adjust coming from no tint at all, but after you adjust, I think you'll be happy with the results.
