Been in Germany several days. Tons of focuses and fiestas around here!

Guess this new style is pretty popular this side of the pond. I'm seeing these everywhere around here. I've peeked into the ones parked on the streets while strolling past, and a lot of them are autos. I've also paid close attention to ones passing by in city traffic while walking around, and haven't noticed any abnormal jerking/surging from them nor a single one making even slight grinding noise. Not that the DCT's are all bad of course, but smaller engines and cooler weather must help things over here as well.

In fact a focus was one of the rental options available to me....but screw that. BMW 330d for literally a few euros more for me pls.

A lot of them were also likely the diesels with the wet clutch DCT as well, as afaik only the 1.6L Petrol and possibly the 1.0 L i3 has the dry clutch DCT, but I think the 1.0 L was a manual only.

Lots of them are automatics, but a lot of them are also diesels, which have an entirely different "wet-clutch" DCT to handle the diesel's torque. These are both evidently easier to do well and have been part of Ford's portfolio longer.

I saw a lot of Fiestas for sure! The few Foci I saw in Europe were mostly the "estate"/station wagon versions.

Yes the autos are becoming more common in the EU. Depending on where you are, they might be rental or lease vehicles and that is why you would see a lot of autos. Try a dealer lot and see how many there are. Where in Germany are you?

I am currently in the Netherlands and I too see the Focus and Fiesta but not in as large a number as I expected. Most Focus are what the Dutch call station cars and most all are manual trans. Automatics are for old people cars (Mercedes).
I do see a lot of Citroens and Reneaults and more Alpha Romeos than expected.

As did I! A lot of Opels too.

I was in Italy a few months ago. I liked the look of the Clio. Hatches ftw

The best-selling non-German cars in Germany are the Focus and Fiesta.

As the owner of a 1972 Opel GT... You ever see those little pickup trucks Opel makes? Those are kinda neat. They were all over Italy when I went.

And funny story. We had a Diesel atx Focus wagon when we were in Italy.

My dad put petrol in it.
