Sorry, no pictures of the modifications needed. Yes, you will need custom axles.

ive got a shop about 45 minutes away that makes custom axles. they are mocking up billet axles for me now and should have a price for me within a week or two. they take on custom jobs if they have time and you ask nice but they aint cheap. i expect to NEVER break one of these axles but i do expect to break lots of those puny tranny mount brackets... cheaper and easier to replace it rather than an axle though.

they are called the driveshaft shop. google it for their website. you will have to call to ask about custom jobs i think.

this sounds more and more appealing. but i have an svtf. i fear axles will be a nightmare to pull this off. if a full parts list could be generated i'd really love to go five lug on the svt and run some rx8 wheels.

You need to buy Mazda knuckles, control arms, rear trailing arms, rear spindles, rear brake calipers, axles, all 4 rotors, wheels, front struts, Mazda or SVT front calipers, parking brake cable and I'm sure a few other small items. It also widens the stance by about 1".

The advantage to this is 5 lug bolt pattern, but mostly (for me), is a much stronger suspension. We were breaking hubs every race weekend. Once changing over to Mazda, we have yet to break a hub. That includes racing in the 25 hours at Thunderhill race.

Junkyard price will run you around $1000-$1200 (not including wheels or struts). Then you have to make some axles.
Mazda3 calipers are interchangeable with SVT calipers?

SVT calipers will bolt onto the Mazda3 knuckles.

So with custom axles needed using Mazda outer and ford inner are these hybrid axles only able to be made for the 5speed cars or can they also be made for an automatic trans?

Parts lists would be great idea. Some pics wouldn't hurt either :)

well that makes it easy for me. I don't have to worry about front axles but I've been wanting to do a 5 lug front conversion.
