Chrome facade on doors

Howdy - over time the chrome substance starts to look blotchy. Are there cleaning materials that will restore its original luster?

Thanks!

That stuff is chrome on plastic. No much depth to it. Even the slightest attempt to 'buff' it will ruin it.
If it is damaged. Leave it alone. You can only make it worse.
To protect it. wax it. No other way to protect it, except to cover it with a mylar or other coating.

Replacement is the method to 'fix' damage to the surface.

Thanks for the info! I will definitely leave it be.

Will Meguirs liquid wax be sufficient for protecting it?

The sad part is, the chrome plating on the front by the license plate looks unaffected by the weathering!

Come to think of it, I was wearing polarized sunglasses at the time - I may have seen that... if not, I won't worry either way... of anything to go bad, that strip is easier to replace or fix than the groovy metallic blue paint. :)

Remin makes dash kits, a lot more expensive than painting but they offer a lot of different materials, supposedly "real materials".
