And if you are crazy enough to think 17whp is a horrible gain from a canned tune without any custom tuners having time to fiddle with it and find more, below is an example of a tune offered by Evolution for the 2011-2013 Mustang GT/Boss 302. This is a custom tune from a company that dynos continually:

Evolution Performance Custom Tuned SCT X3 - 2011-2013 Mustang GT/BOSS 302 5.0L
Starting at: $449.00
Average Gains Across The Curve - 35 Rear Wheel Horsepower and 34 Rear Wheel Torque
Peak Gains - 25 Rear Wheel Horsepower and 30 Rear Wheel Torque

Remember, this is a custom tune for a 412 hp (2011-2012) and 420 hp (2013) GT and an underrated 440hp Boss 302.

I realize that, what I am getting at is that even with mods there are gains with the tune. Stock, we do not know. I would suspect it is along the line of 10whp such as Injected.

For a car that already responds well to mods, that 17 additional whp is a pretty good gain for a tiny engine. I do not see what the issue is?

Is it that a stock car was not dynoed?

I understand that, but people are bitching that the gains are the same as being seen with bolt-ons. True, but this car already had bolt-ons, so the gains are above that.

Seems simple to me.

I just have a hard time wrapping my head around the logic I am seeing. Everyone wanted a tune, and all of a sudden we have two choices, but then they gripe because the gains are not enough. This is just the start people!

You have tuners now. Rejoice!

As our poor friend torque has been trying to explain... never compare 2 different cars on 2 different dynos.

Put your blinders on and understand that your benefit (as shown here) could be 17whp increase over a intake/exhaust car with no tune.

I understand everyone has to start somewhere, but there is a startling number of very uneducated members when it comes to car modding.

You saw it cuz I tapped it

I'm agreeing with you Torque. People are arguing that because FocusBoy put down 175whp with an intake, header and exhaust, that this car, with intake, exhaust and tune, putting down 177whp is some how dissappointing? It doesn't make sense. Both examples show that solid gains should be had from a header, and from a tune.

And as you stated, on a canned tune, not an FSwerks, or Tom, or Injected tune. People should be cheering. As you also stated this car should be pretty close to 190whp or more, and well over 200 crank horsepower with only bolt ons and a tune. (Which is Awesome.)

Some additional food for thought:

Focus SE curb weight: 2,920 lbs (hatch), 160hp : 18.25 lbs/hp
Focus ST curb weight: 3,250 lbs, 252hp : 12.90 lbs/hp

Focus SE @ 200bhp = 14.45 lbs/hp
Focus SE @ 210bhp = 13.90 lbs/hp

Those are at 200 and 210 CRANK horsepower, not at the wheels. It makes the regular focus a pretty dang fun car, don't you think?

I have been thinking the same thing. Glad you did the math for me!

Don't worry guys I have a header on the way, and will be dyno in that with in the next few weeks.

He was talking about _RED_'s car currently and not FocusBoy's. Red has a cat still.

If you were to go by his old dyno and add the gain from a tune, then it would be around 190whp.

He was talking about RED, not FocusBoy.
