who gives a SH(expletive deleted) if the focus was meant to drag race or not? lets list off a few cars here that werent meant to be used as drag cars but by God you see them doing at the track or on the street every weekend. ill start with honda types
civic
prelude
accord
s2000
del sol
crx
integra
legend
RSX and all the other random letter acura cars
and my favorite is the element (yes ive seen several)

now to GM products
calalier
cobalt
aveo
lumina
impala
all the pickups s-10 and silverado alike
all the vans minivan full size and panel vans alike
caprice wagon
malibu
and i could keep going with pontiac and other GM but it gets redundant after awhile. hell those are only 2 major car manufacturers. i could go on listing cars for hours. i think i have made my point.

my point is that there isnt hardly a single car that was manufactured after about 1975 that was built to drag race. the car does what YOU build it to do. if you want to car to drag race and you build it to do that then by GOD the car will drag race!

there was one around here for awhile stripped down to bare bones nothing with some sort of honda vtec swap and it was nasty. this was back before i had the focus and i was driving the old beat up lumina (RIP you piece of garbage). i came across this dude in a metro with a fart can and was thinking i was gonna screw with him. i noticed radials on the front. i noticed the interior was gone. the only thing i missed was a cloud of nitrous because im sure he must have put a 125 shot through it or it was some sort of honda swap one. it hauled ass and would have beat all but the most heavily built GT mustangs around here. that is just another nail in the coffin for the argument "you cant make a drag car out of something that isnt already a drag car." by God if you can make a geo into a 1/4 mile car you can make a focus into a 1/4 mile car with half the effort.

I saw a turbo Ford Festiva from early 90's run a freaking 11 or 12 sec 1/4 mile!!! I agree with focusmaniac...... you make the car do what YOU want, not what the factory made it for! a festiva shouldn't be hitting 12's, but it did!

Just because you have time to take a nap between shifts in a focus doesn't mean it doesn't take any skill to drag race. Sounds like someone hasn't lanched a 1.3/1.5 60' time.

Oh, and a 1.3 60ft in a Focus will never happen. Not in it's stock frame and subframe and FWD anyway.
