This is one of the most ridiculous statements I have ever read on this site. Why use the Focus to Drag race? Simply put,its an affordable platform Plenty of Mods available Light weight And here's the best one: I would rather Hot Rod a slower Car to be fast than just go buy a Fast Car to race. Its what modding or Hot rodding is all about. I take very much pride in smashing Cars that dont expect a Focus to be as quick as it is. Think of this: Theres plenty of Mustangs that are Drag Cars....and lots of them started out having similiar stock quarter mile time to what a Focus can do. You have to mod them to make more power, why not do it with a Focus too?

Actually the Focus is a HEAVY platform... a Fox Body 5.0 weighs less than an SVT Focus.
A Focus picks up 5whp from a header... a Fox picks up closer to 30whp The Focus is a PISS POOR car to choose as a drag car.... now road racing/auto cross is a different story.

Yet on any given weekend,You can find someone drag racing a 75 Mustang that originally was a 17 second plus Car. No one said anything about a "Fox" body Mustang. Owned a 92 GT and am fully aware of what they are capable of. But for the owner to get that 75 Stang to a respectable figure..... Whats the difference between Him modifying his Car or me modifying my 15 second stock ST? My thought is: The cost of me to find a decent non abused Mustang and supercharge it,is going to be a lot more than finding a clean ZX3 and supercharging that. Being closed minded about Hot Rodding any Car is just plain silly. I have seen a lot of Fast Foci at the Drag strip. It may not be the ideal candidate,But to me the challenge is half the Fun. Just plain disagree that the Focus is a "twisties" only Car.

Anyone that thinks drag racing isnt racing should go do a few events to see how challanging it really is , what the OP said about drag racing could also be said about the focus isnt a good road car that it isnt real racing to just go in a circle , its a nuts statement Tom

Granted some stock Mustangs arent that fast but they are still faster than any stock focus.
You spend a few hundred bucks on a Focus header and pick up MAYBE 5-7whp.. a set of headers on any Foxbody 5.0 is gonna netcloser to 25-30whp. The Fox Mustang is a lighter car that responds way better to bolt ons, it absolutly gets better traction thats why I said the Fox is a better platform for drag racing than a focus. I knw several guys that make a lowly 275whp in their Mustangs that run mid 12's.... nothing more than bolt ons and a good set of tires.... it takes 300whp in a focus to get in the 12's... due to no bottom end power and the lack of traction.

first its drag then its nascar, then its rally......also the focus can be what ever you want it to be as long as you dont expect more then you will get out of it. i would love to out run a Z06 but my ZX3 won't...what it will though it beat the doors off most 4 cyl and V6 stangs and camaros around here. down here there is a local who brackets a 60's model beetle and wins a ton of money because he has the SKILL to run consistent times. So to all, do with yee focuses as you wish and most importantly be safe and have fun!!!
