The new (slightly used) 2.5L engine is here - just got dropped off. I am amazed at how clean it is - and must give a huge HIGH FIVE to Inga at LKQ - simply teh best customer services and pricing i have seen in the used car parts biz.

This bottom end plus my prepped 2.3L Head until i can figure out the VCT Delete should be pretty special. The 2.5L head plus an EFI Trumpet Inlet Throttle Body - hang tight - coming to a theater near you soon.

time to start taking her apart, then putting it all back together!!!

2.5 Swap

MainiaxMotorsports & Tom:

Hope all is well. I've been talking to Tom about a 2003 Focus SVT I just purchased and was wanting to do some modifications/engine swap (this one is locked up). Tom, if it will help with figuring out the VCT and you think it is worth it I'm willing to install a 2.5 in this one and transport it up to you. I'm in Georgia. I'm game for anything at this point. Let me know.

Donor Tear Down

Pretty productive day 1 with donor motor

1. removed valve cover
2. removed cam bridges
3. removed engine cover
4. removed flywheel
5. removed crank position
6. removed head / cams / etc - WOW is the 2.5L head HUGE !!! night and day difference w a 2.3L
7. Hand polished piston heads w/ rubbing alchohol - talk about elbow grease
8. lubricated and sealed pistons/cylinders after cleaning

Here come the 2.3L Parts !!!!

Note: per this thread - this is a 2011 Ford Fusion I4 2.5L D25 Duratec Motor

1. Counter Balance Delete - CFM kit for a 2.3L
2. 2.3L Oil Pump
3. 2.3L Oil Pickup
4. 2.3 Oil Pump Sproket: NOTE - the 2.5L Block does NOT have the second tensionor on the oil chain - not tapped for it.
5. New Pulley Tensioner (2.3L)
6. New Water Pump (2.3L)

What's the sprocket on the camshaft for? (by your finger in the 2nd pic) I don't recall seeing that on my 2.0. Part of the balancing parts?

Internal sprocket runs the Oil Pump and the External / Outer Sprocket spins your cams.

Should have those on tomorrow after i put the head on. Then Engine Cover, tidy up, and lets put her back in the car and start the darn thing up !!!!

OHHHHHHH - that sprocket - that is where your balance shaft assembly makes contact with the sprocket on the crank

if you have deleted that, and have a new crank - that would not be there at all.

18LBS of weight and god only knows what kind of horsepower those balance shafts SUCK UP.

was happy to rip it out.

Oil Pan sealed up and on
Cylinders 1 and 4 TDC
Fresh Gasket
Why not put her head back on :)



Does anyone know the correct TORQUE SEQUENCE for these heads, or have a LINK? Sure i can use the GOOGLE button - but know you guys are smarter than Bing and Google combined
