Thanks everyone. I'm excited about the VW. I got the manual because, well, I like manuals. And I'll never bash the Focus. I enjoyed mine. It was more the dealer than the car, and it's not the first time it's happened to me.

I was a little upside down on the trade, but not much. Having sold cars in the past, and still being in the industry on the service side gives me some "friends in the industry."

Congrats on the upgrade and a proper manual tranny. I'm not sure what my wife would like if we got rid of the Focus but a VW could be one of them or an MS3.

That was only an issue with the older designs with plastic impellers, they switched to metal soon after, I replaced one of mine on a MKIV I owned as a precaution.

In the end money does not matter if your not happy with something, the only negative is if you can afford the upside down on the payments which makes you hang on to the car till you build some equity.

Be happy you got the last GTI model year to be made in Wolfsburg for the US Market. The Passat has never been the same since production switched to the US, the Euro version is much nicer.

You should have got an Elantra GT. Those look sick.

Not sure if this is internet sarcasm... They may look decent but they drive like crap- Numb steering (even with "settings") and a bouncy, unsettled suspension. Drive the Elantra GT and GTI back to back and experience the night and day difference.

Yeah, the Elantra looks good but the reviews have been down on the tepid handling and power.

Nah, no sarcasm. I really like the Elantra GT. I can see how the handling and power concerns could make you choose differently however.

Poor choice to compare, not even at the same price point, for starters Hyundai 148HP vs GTI 200HP Turbo on the base GTI.

What makes VW expensive is when you step up to the Autobahn Package, then your pushing the price of a more powerful RWD Genesis Coupe.
