Time to say goodbye...

Well everyone, it's been fun, but I've decided it's time to move on. After having my '12 Focus Titanium at the shop 3 different times for a front-end clunk and clutch chatter (and some smaller issues), and their inability to fix my problems, I'm getting rid of her. I'm picking up a '13 VW Gti tomorrow on my day off. And before any of you say anything about VW reliability, I've owned one in the past, and my g/f currently owns one, and I'm fully aware of everything. (Unlike I was with the Focus).

On the plus side, I have some parts for sale in the classifieds including my Steeda STS, K&N intake and H&R spacers.

I'll probably still hang around here, as this is actually one of the better forums I've been a part of. Thanks to everyone for all the help and tips!

GTI is a good choice. DSG? I just drove a 13 DSG GTI & GLI over the weekend and I was instantly reminded why VW's DSG is world-class. Also, I bet they're gonna give good deals out soon on MKVI's since the MKVII's are on their way. Anyways, congrats on the big upgrade!

What I Drive: 2013 Focus Titanium DCT Dilemma

I am also a prior VW owner, I have owned 3 of them total. One of them also almost became a Lemon, because it sat at the dealer for 2 months waiting for a part from Germany.

I never went back to VW because of bad dealer experience I had and VW's lack of care in the matter, it didn't stop me from considering them since I used another dealer that was better to take care of my cars until I got rid of them, but mainly fixed things myself that I could.

Still gave them a hard look prior to getting the Focus, call it semi-loyal, but could not get past my bad experience and the fuel economy aside from the TDI was not that great. Golf R would have been ideal if I wanted to really not care about MPG.

I do like the new MkVII Golf/GTI that the US will get next year, but it will no longer be made in Germany, they are shifting production to Mexico for the US Market. A lot of people are not happy about that.

The issues with my Titanium have far surpassed anything on the VW in the first 3 months, all of which were quite issue free with some minor exceptions. The DCT issues are probably the worse experience in satisfaction I ever experienced in a new car purchase.

You seemed pretty cool, so as long as you don't stick atround and bash foci all day like the other idiots, you'll be good.

Also, what's up with everyone going from Focus to GTi? Lol

Sorry you had bad luck with your focus but good luck with your new ride. Always liked GTI.

Congratulations on the new car, enjoy it.

I think a lot of us would probably love to get a new GTI but of course they cost quite a bit more than the non-ST Focus... especially in Canada.

I think I'll be trading my Focus in for the GTD, since it offers great gas mileage at 56 MPG and performance in one package. VW dragged their feet bringing them over, we never saw the MkVI GTD but 2014 is still not concrete, but supposedly it might make it over here then or soon after.
