2000 focus ROUGH acceleration

I have a 2000 Ford Focus, Engine code "P", manual trans.

Problem arose last summer. Had an engine code for "lean condition bank 1". When attempting to accelerate the car would, hesitate and buck. That is putting it mildly. It was like I was attempting to accelerate while pumping the clutch. I read some forums mentioning the vaccuum elbow on the throttle body and found it to be nearly gone. Also replaced both O2 sensors. the problem seemed to go away.... however now I realized now that it went away because the temp outside dropped, winter in Michigan. Now that the temps are back above 60 degrees, the problem is back. Im trying to avoid just "running it through the parts counter"... I know Im not the only Focus driver to experience this, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

There are specific MAF cleaner sprays. Should be available at any parts store.

Ok... On Thursday here in Michigan it got up to 77 degrees, and about 20 min into my drive home from work, the car became undriveable. I had to pull to the side of the expressway, wait 5 min and continue. Had to do that 3 times.

Now, today I cleaned the MAF. I also changed the plugs, wires, and coil pack. Found that the old plugs were gaped improperly, off by a thousandth. also not a drop of dialectic grease to be found.

Of coarse the temps are back to the 30's today and the warmest day in the next 10 days will only be 60, love Michigan.... So, I will update status when I get a good warm day.

Thanks for the help.
