Anyone in the Mid-Atlantic, Rob at ProForm in Ellicott City, MD does great work. I'll take the barely visible line of the film over a front end covered in rock chips and touch up paint any day.
Manufacturers offer it, or do dealers? There's a big difference.

Manufacturers. Build a Toyota/Lexus and you can add it as an accessory. 3M paint protection film is OEM certified.

Any idea what something like that's costs? I'm curious.

I'm considering that magnetic bra piece for the hood lip at least on long road trips as I'm more concerned about the hood than the plastic parts which do resist chipping better than paint on metal.

Depends on how much of the front end you want covered. I got the whole front bumper, 2 feet up the hood/fenders and the mirror covers and I believe it was about $600.

On my last car I started by just doing the hood thinking that the bumper would be less prone to chips, but I got 2 on the bumper after only a few weeks because I was commuting through a construction zone at the time. I went back and had the rest of the front end done, it saved the front end of that car.

So I went to a shop that does the 3M scotchguard PPF. I was quoted for 250 for the hood and side of the fenders. And a little closer to 500 for the hood and bumper. Im leaning more towards the hood and bumper.

I was on the fence about it, seeing as there is a visible line but I figure i could live with it more than I could stone chips, or a bug deflector.

It pretty much sealed the deal when I left the shop and on my way to work, a 18-wheeler passes in the opposite direction and showered me with rocks. Even chipped my windshield, pricks.

Sounds like a good deal. The visible line is not bad at all. Most people probably wouldn't even notice it. I'll try to remember to snap some pictures next time I get my car washed.
