Has anyone else had problems at those auto detail/wash places? I took my grandma's perfectly-detailed taurus there for a simple wash, and it came back with all these black marks all over the trunk, and the paint scratched up in one corner. I could have done a much better job myself, with a bucket of soapy water and a couple of rags and towels, which is how I usually wash her car. [She was in a money-spending mood that day.]

Dry-wash is some good stuff.. My friends dad marketed a bunch of their products. I still prefer theold fashioned way though.. water, sponge (for the body), brush for the wheels.

I am such a meticulous person when it comes to cleaning my car. I have two different brushes I use: 1) for my rims 2) for the top of the car Both are soft and gentle on my ride Then I use a chamois to dry it off, starting with the top of the car, then do the windows, and work my way from the front to back. After that, I wipe my rims dry with these soft towels that are disposable. Then I put on the tire cleaner and do the inside of my car. It takes me a good 2 to 3 hours to clean my car. I it every three weeks, sometimes once a month, only cuz I hardly get it dirty when I go out. 'cept when it rains, because the salt in the rain....then I have to wash it so they don't ruin the glass... shame shame on tha rain

I used to use a soft mit I would start at the top and work down, rinsing the mit very well before putting it back into the soapy water. Then towel dry the car. I now have the mr.clean autodry, and I love it. I still use the mit and rinse it well often, but no more drying!! and no more water spots on my black focus. I am sold on this system.

If washing by hand, a sponge. Usually the car isn't so dirty so just the sprayer at the car wash is fine. Dry it with a chamois, and then Rain-X Fast Wax.
