Rinse, Sheep skin wash mitt, Mothers California Gold car wash soap, window squeegee, synthetic chamois, Meguiars Endurance tire gel, Meguiars polish and wax. There, done.

I use a sponge that has like a sheep skin type cover on it. Like soft wool. Works good, no swirl marks, just shine, shine, shine!!! Especially since Ive been using that Mothers california carnuba wax, wich I apply with microfiber towel. And Armor All tire wet.

lol i'll be honest here. im not overly worried enough about it to spend a lot of money on sponges and mits and whatnot. i pull a 5 gallon bucket from the back yard, fill it with water and whatever soap is available and use an old t-shirt to scrub the car.

Typically rain, but I do get it to the car wash from time to time. LOL

Microfiber Mitt!
I dont have a scratch on my paint! It looks brand New! I would never use a Brush. I used to detail at some Dealerships here in P'cola and I saw all kinds of Scratchs appear with the brushs, even when I washed them out after each car.

yeah that's a rough question. Depends on your environment. Here in the city, living in apartments, the only real choice you have is the automatic wash, or to go to the do it yourself shacks. Sucks, I'm a new owner and this is one of the things I've been thinking about, then I saw this thread. I reckon I'll pressure spray out the brush real well, then be extra careful and take my time ($8.00 in quarters. HA.) to scrub it down smoothly. I'll feel better once I get some Dry Wash wax on it, (only available from them, but AMAZING. Fiance's uncle restores cars and uses this, and hasn't looked back in 3 years). That wax should help minimize or eliminate swirls under "less than ideal" washing conditions.
