Leather Care - Clean, Treat, Protect
Just purchased a 2014 Focus Hatch SE with leather and it is the first car I have ever owned with a leather interior. (Man is it a nice change from cloth)
Anywho, I was just wondering if anyone has any tips as far as taking care of the leather is concerned. I work as an engineer at a machine shop so from time to time I am not the cleanest getting in the car. Coolant residue, graphite dust, etc. Also, I am very active in outdoor sports (running, biking, kayaking, etc) I try to shower before I get in the car, when I can, but there are times that isnt an option. Also, I am in my car 2+ hours a day. (1 hour commute, but changing this spring)
I am assuming I should be cleaning the leather and treating it often to prevent if from drying out? Are there certain areas that I should treat more than others like the shift boot, steering wheel, drivers seat? Also, I have been in other cars that have had the leather cleaned/treated and they are very slick and greasy. Are there products out there that will treat/protect the leather with out making the leather slick?
Thanks for any input!
