Stone chips - Trans Labrador

Hi,

1. I know I might get more response to this if I posted it on the Focus Canada Website but their website is still down.

2. I am planning a 7000 km ( that's 4400 mile) trip in our Focus wagon this summer, about 1000 km of which will be on mostly gravel roads on the Trans-Labrador highway, and I thought I would ask if anyone can help me with the following:

a) Does anyone have any experience of how to best avoid damage from stones travelling long distances on gravel roads - should I get some kind of special covering to protect the hood, or use a wind deflector on the front?

b) as I will be taking along two full size spare tires, can anyone tell me ( I don't have access to my wagon at the moment) whether a full size spare will fit in the well where ( at least on mine) there is only a temporary spare?

c) Anyone here done this trip recently: Baie Comeau - Labrador City - Goose Bay - Red Bay - Blanc Sablon - ferry to St. Barbe, Nfld? Anyone done it in a Focus? Any advice?

Thanks.

To protect your rockers you could go to a linex place and see what they will do your rockers for. Many people with trucks do that and seems to work well.
