Spray bottle from $1 store, water, and a little soap. I've also used a drop of dish detergent also.

The contours on there make the vinyl fold and move.

Could it be the quality of the vinyl - as I suspect?

this was the item

I didn't purchase the sure glide fluid...
I started with Oracal 631. That seemed a little too thin for me. it moved and creased way too much. The Oracal 651 is thicker and more manageable. For me any way. I purchased mine here. I think I bought 24"x10yd. I forgot the total amount. About $40.00 or so.

Here was my hardest spot. There are a few air bubbles still there. On hot days I tried piercing them with a needle, but that didn't solve much.

thanks terry
it seems my suspicion was right... the material i'm using is too thin - since you said you had troubles with thin material too. its so hard to find the perfect set.

is there someone that makes a focus-specific rally stripe set that is thicker vinyl?

I dont really have the tools to cut long straight lines like that

doesn't that cost $400 "installed"? I'm not sure if you can just purchase the materials from there.

actually the ford custom graphics is what gave me the idea for the stripes anyways. I like the dual wide stripe.

The product I purchased has a grid on the back. All I did was follow the the lines with a straight edge and a new razor knife blade. All it takes is a steady hand and and a smooth flat surface. I did learn to keep changing to a new blade. For a flat surface, I used the back side of piece of vinyl siding I had in the garage. Don't be intimidated. It's so easy an cheap.

oh looks like ford changed that website. before it just showed install price. now the same stripes are $259. unless it is thick vinyl i'd be afraid of messing it up.
But looking at the pictures, they don't cover the whole body

I'm having trouble with my phones and thus my cameras lol so no pictures yet

today I worked on the stripes with much more success. Thanks again for your advices. I did the roof and turned out way better. Did the spoiler too. It took a good deal of time to get one part to stick before moving onto the contour and then wrapping it around a bit to stick. I have just enough vinyl left to re-do the hood because it turned out pretty bad, and to do the rear. I'm afraid to do the rear yet because there is a lot of contours there on the sedan.

I'll post pics ASAP.

kinda funny... as i was finishing up today some neighbor came outside and said the blue doesn't match and that it looks "shitty" . I really do appreciate the criticism but come on. In truth the color I ordered looked darker online. But I think it looks good. I like it. and that's all that matters, right? ;-)
