Is that the "minty fresh" version of methyl hydrate aka methanol? lol

To the OP, a lot of intermittent problems are electrical in nature and your description is close to my experience with a faulty ignition coil connector. i.e. engine bogs, feels as if it's fuel starvation but in reality it's a lack of proper spark, car bucks, no CEL until circuit fails completely, occurs randomly but usually after car is warm (perhaps heated wire expansion is just enough to break a circuit by a few thou).

Anyway, check the integrity of the coil pack electrical connector. Any corrosion, cracks, split wire casing or green crud is a sign of a problem. Pull on the three wires at the coil. The center is 12V power; the two outer ones are "signalling/switching" wires for each pair of cylinders.

Free to look. It's not on your list of things you've checked (although your singing may have been off key enough to make the problem worse...)

Sounds like a bad coil pack to me. I had the same issues. I really thought it was something with fuel delivery, but a new coil pack fixed it. Although, I had the CEL come on with a cylinder misfire code.

Check for hairline cracks on the coil

Smurfsmack......lol....try unplugging the vacuum hose on top the egr valve and just plug the hose with something.... its possible that the egr valve is opening when it shouldn't.....could cause the problem. Here's the deal. At this point, you know there is a problem AND when it'll happen.....so you have to think outside the box. You have either a air, fuel, or spark issue.....its up to you to find out exactly which area is the problem child. I would start by checking some KEY ground wires that relate to the big 2 or the 3"...( air-fuel-spark). Fuel pump relay.....wiring harness to fuel pump.....coil wiring harness...connector in general.....broken or corroded wiring.....egr valve....vacuum leaks......etc. You have to check and inspect everything...

Could be almost any electronic part on car since seems to be heat related.

If you are running fuel with ethanol in it, well, your water source there.

I'd be looking for some way to check fuel pressure at the time the problem occurs. At my house, that would mean tapping physically into the fuel rail, which I have plans of doing on both mine someday. Electrical deduction of fuel pressure is stupid as the sensor can lie.

Had a Tempo once that acted just like this car, ran fine 99% and then out of the blue the crap running and no power. Fuel pump worn out, but that one I could check.

ok update time........ my fans are not turning on...wtf? i sat there and watched them until the car got hot and died, they never switched on. this could be why after long drives it dies while sitting still in idle. and why it dies when im sitting in traffic. what do you guys think
