For me this size of engine is for the fiesta-accent-sonic-versa etc.

I would never buy a car with an engine smaller than a 2.0L 4 cylinders
The 1.6 is doing very well in the escape. And you wouldn't buy a fiesta st with a 1.6l over a base focus with a 2.0?

1.5 i4 I might consider... but not an i3... they don't have the same balance or even omph for that matter.... I mean my uncle's festiva would run laps around a geo metro... granted it was almost 150cc bigger but still...

It'd have to be a cheap car for me to consider an i3... like, less than 10,000, and that would be nice, we kinda need one...

I would buy a fiesta with the 1.6. But the escape is too big for this engine.

I have now a 2012 mitsubishi lancer with CVT trans and 2.0L engine. Love the way it drives and the engine revs at 1900-2000rpm at 70 mph.

That engine would spit the crank out of the oil pan in no time in that car.

Next they will try to drop a 2.0 in the f-series lol

2.0L DOHC MIVEC 4 cylinder engine (148 hp, 145 lb-ft)

1.5L ecoboost (turbo) 3 cylinder (177hp, 177lb-ft)

with the turbo engine you get maximum torque at 1600rpm.

i know what i would pick.

And what engine is better 150,000 miles down the road? What engine would stress less in the long run? What engine requires less maint because its na? What engine is prob maxed out running at very hot temps most of the time? What engine has the best warranty? Have you ever owned a small turbo engine?

Also you get maxed tq at 1600 and thats it, then it all down hill from there you dont need 2 seconds of low end tq on highway where 70-90% of driving happens. Expecting a sudden boost pull and then itll prob fall flat. Like when you’re masturbating, at climax and the damn phone rings.

I would pick the one with 10 years/160 000km/100 000miles warranty on the powertrain ( motor, direction, everything that toutch oil)

I have near 300km on the odo with 1/3 of the gastank and it does 0-100kmh in 7.9 seconds.

I don't want to bash this engine but a turbo on a 3 cylinder with like 5 years of warranty..good luck in 6-7-8-9 years if the turbo decides to blow up... If mitsubishi gives to customers the best warranty, it's because their cars don't break and theirs engines are tanks.

Fords motors like the duratec are solid engines, 2.0L and the 2.3L. I loved my focus, was tough to trade it ahah :). I would'nt buy a car with a small engine with no end torque and less than 4 cylinders. The current focus has the perfect engine and I hope they will not delete it in the futur for those boosted cola cans.

Mitsubishi includes a massive warranty because people won't buy their cars without it.

ive never owned a mistu but yet ive never heard any owners complain about them. I hear more fords bitching than mitsu, funny... Only mistu blown engines (small percent) are owners that have modded or tuned them to the max... evo, lancer etc...

youd also be surprised how many car makers use mistu complete engines, long and short blocks, and even copies of their design
