2013 Focus Titanium Hatchback & those "SYNC" apps?

Just going thru the manual(s) on this thing. So far, all that this newbe knows how to successfully do is start, drive, park and turn off the car.
I have an android phone. The dealer sync-ed my phone to the cars SYNC service. Displays phone status, battery, etc etc on the Ford Sync display.
So far, pretty cool.
But there is so much more to it, Im sure.
I have yet to find the suggested android play store's "Sync Applink" app.
All I found was the "sync destinations" app, when searching the store.

It would be nice to have a guide "how to use Ford SYNC and your phone" for idiots.
Especially info on the available features/available apps beyond basic phone calling and address books, etc.

I believe there are apps that can interface with the fords SYNC feature, and respond to voice control as well. The first step, that SYNC APPLIST phone app???

I guess Im just probing here for first time user "must knows" and info to take advantage of ford SYNC feature, and what all it can do.
I read somewhere here that there was also the ability to access amazon cloud tunes using the phone and the ford SYNC feature. That would be nice.

Hi and welcome

There is no stand-alone sync app for your phone, instead there are applications that one can download that allow you to use voice commands to control them.

Here is a brief list of applications that you can download for your phone that I know have the Ford Sync commands.

Wall Street Journal
USA Today
Kaliki
Amazon Cloud Player
Aha Radio
Rhapsody
Greater Media
Glympse
BeCouply
Pandora
Stitcher
NPR
Scout navigation

After having downloaded the application to your phone simply activate the voice commands on the car and say mobile applications and then the name of the application - or use the hard buttons to guide to the mobile applications section of the "phone" menu.

I only find my self using Pandora for music and Glympse to sometimes let my wife know when I'll be home from long road trip and such

Alright. Thanks. From what I was reading I also needed an app for the phone for this to work. Will give it a try.

OP:

You have MFT - no Sync apps for you!

Yes, no Applink for MFT yet, I found that out after the fact too. If you got the SE with MyFord, you have Applink Apps. Probably the only time in my life I bought a upper level something and had less features than the lower priced models. Not suppose to work that way but in Ford's case it does.

There is an Android MyFord Touch simulator in Google Play, but it doesn't do much and is not 100% Focus MFT.

I have an Android phone as well, Bluetooth audio works, but from Pandora all audio is "unknown", if you use your own music, either stuff purchased from Google Play or etc, the artist and song title shows up on the display. Audio quality via Bluetooth isn't that great though from what I found.

I really doubt it will ever happen.

Ford is still at it with the bait & switch with AppLink. Just looked at a 2013 Fusion Titanium. Their website says AppLink is included. Footnotes on another page exclude vehicles with MFT. What a joke. Still pretty pissed it wasn't on my 2012 Focus Ti, but at least we know we're not alone in this.

I purchased a 2013 Escape SE (for the wife) with Sync (not MFT) and was really surprised to see that it too does not come with AppLink...
