Imrc

I have a 2003 SVT. I am throwing a P1518 code related to the IMRC. Currently I cannot pass emissions because of the code. Am I putting out more pollution because of the IMRC not working?? Thanks

more than likely not. Its what controls the the "flap" to change the length of the intake manifold runners. It probably doesn't need to be replaced completely. Take a look at this thread: http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=222180

I was able to do mine with out "de-soldering" it. You can gently flex the board out of the way and use a stick and some sandpaper to smooth it back out. I stress GENTLY.

^ I did the same to mine and it worked just fine. Every now and then it'll come back on. You should be able to get to it without having to take out the driver's side headlight, which I did the first time.

I ended up buying a new imrc. I cleaned it up once, kept the light of for a few months, then code came back. I don't myself if the code comes back again, I'm buying a new imrc. Not gonna dissemble every few months. Piece of mind on my tired focus.
