I've had parts painted on a few occasions. Not repairs, but modifications.

It will take multiple samples to find a decent match, and just because it matches for one area of the car doesn't mean the same paint can be used elsewhere.

In these shots you can see the side skirts I had painted. Most of the time they match really well, but in certain situations they can appear to be a shade lighter than the body.

Another important point is that you cannot blend with this paint. Your panels will need to be fully resprayed, since adding extra layers of the pearl will darken the existing paint.

I figured the hole bumper and quater would have to be painted, not like these bumpers match anyway , were did you get the side shirts ?

I had body damage to my 2010 Fusion when some dude backed into my left front. When I got the car back the paint on the repaired fender and plastic wasn't even close with the rest of the car. Even though it was really obvious, the body shop said it matched (of course that's what they would say) so I got a second and third opinion. I took it to a friend who is a Professor of Art in painting and a respected body shop, both agreed. The fellow at the body shop said they sprayed the metallic paint at too high of a pressure which dispersed the metallic too much making it more blue than metallic. To make a long story short (too late), suggest to the body shop to lower the gun pressure for more even coverage. I finally got them to agree and they repainted the parts and looked good.

Yeah I had a door ding in the middle of the passenger side panel. The guy told me it could get very expensive to fix because of how they needed to repaint (going into the front of the car not just the door itself). I'm not really clear on what he was saying. It turned out it was far enough back that it was an easy fix and they didn't charge me for it. Looks perfect to me - can't even tell there was work done.

Depends on the painter. Dealership body shops are usually the worst in regards to repair quality. At the end of the day, the plastic bumper will never match the sheetmetal adjacent to it, just like it didn't match coming out of the factory. And whoever told you that three-stage can't be blended is wrong.

Yellow Blaze is a pearl colour. The more coats of pearl it has, the darker it becomes. So, spraying new pearl over existing paint (as you would when blending) will result in darker patches.

It's key to get the same amount of pearl in all areas for a proper colour.
