I am going to explain this and then we are going to go back on topic...

USB 2.0 ports have to put out 500mA (0.5 Amps) to be certified as USB 2.0. Many newer phones require more than 500mA to charge. This may provide enough power to charge some phones, maintain other phones and not enough for others. Most tablets, require over 1Amp to charge and often times come with 2amp chargers. More and more phones require 700-1000mA chargers. I am guessing the ports in the car only provide 500mA.

Now that that is solved, back to cool ideas to use for the blank space in the dash.

1slofofo is correct.

I also had a chance to take apart the dash and take mine out. A couple of quick photos of the piece are below.

I am going to try to get the unit modeled in CAD eventually. Then when I figure out what I want to put there I will have my buddy print one out for me.

Once I found out what this was I do not understand it. I assume it for a Garage opener card that no one really uses any more. I am not putting or leaving a CC in there, what do u guys put in there?
